9/10: subperb

Yeah it was short, but who cares!
This makes up for all of the crappy and lengthy animations on this site.
Loved it's realisitic take on mystical genre, rather then cutsy crap.
Animation was awesome, visuals were great and loved the use of colors especially. Can't stress that enough in my reviews because cartoons need vibrant, cool, and refresing colors to make it apealing visually and to not become an eye sore!
Very unique characters that are packed to the brim with personallity and flavor!
Professional quality that deserves attention and not be overlooked by hype of other overated titles. If this doesn't get on homepage, it deserves the underdog award! This cartoon is soOOo out of newgrounds league.
Thanks for making my day!

6/10: not too shabby

A nice rendition of star fox.
The animation and graphics were top notch, kinda of had that cell shaded look to it.
Though I guess it was just a trailer so I can't be too harsh on it, becuase really, nothing really interesting happened. It seemed it was dragged out a little too long in some parts just to give the illusion of it being lengthy. The best part was when fox wasn't in a machine, otherwords, on ground. The part were he rolled behind the crate and the part of him in the cockpit in the beginning were the only parts with the spiffy animation was at best. I guess the dog fight in space had it too, but seemed bland. Just show fox a little more so it just doesn't look like a unoriginal scfi epic.
Music seemed to fit with what you are you doing, but the japanese lryics were atrocious, but humourous in a unintentional way. Sound effects were sparse however.

Don't know if this was actually a trailer or the fact that it has 'mock' in it suggesting that it's just a flash cartoon of a actual trailer for the game? Did it come out already or was it suppose to be spring '05 instead of '04?

There were some parts I stretched out, but that's also a matter of fixing beginner mistakes. A lot of people don't let things stay on screen for long enough, so I may have overdone it trying to avoid that.
Japanese lyrics? That was Iron Maiden. It's english. I picked that song because 1. Iron Maiden rocks, and 2. The song was "Aces High," about WWII fighter pilots.

7/10: good

That was really good, loved the gross factor especially, but that is what you expect from a drunk person though. Does what every drunk person does, urinating in pulblic, induce vommiting, passing out, and the occasional murder. Either it be by vehicle transportation or uncontrolable violence.
The graphics and animation was smooth and rich with cool(type not expression) colors and I adored the color palette. Kudos for looking so pleasing to the eye in visuals.
Short, but sweet.
4/5: rarely do I go over my overall score in terms of voting, but this was pleasent.

1/10: god awful

okay then?
This was so atrocious that I'll pretend that I have never seen it and walk away real slowly then.

8/10: booyah!

Not that I'm coping what the last person said, but I thought of it as the same way. Maybe he realy didn't turn into a battle mech, but was just his own pissed slef and kicked the bully's ass. Nice way of finishing it though, he didn't stup to his level.
Animation and graphics were slick and had a professional quality to it, very unique.
Sound was fitting and added to the mood of standing up to an enemy, captured it perfectly.
Overall it was really pleasent to watch.

Thank you very very very very very much.

4/10: bad

Liked the animation style and use of the one sprite of chief that I have never seen before, that was cool!
Despite it looked nice for visuals, there wasn't realy anything here to be amazing. Just random shorts about incoherent happenings. It would of been nice if it was based on halo moore then the use of master chief, ie: a series maybe?
Sound was accurately done and off south park, kudos for that, music was sparse.
Violence was sparse also and dissapointing because I excpected master chief to blow up some alien goobers.
For humor it was bland and uncreative. Which would suck for this cartoon because it's a parody.

A series based on Invader sounds alot more promising! Loved that show, but nickelodean wanted it to be more little kid friendly, but that would of invovled the creators to change the series. So they did what was best and left nick, but since nick still holds rights on the series, it still looks like we won't be seeing it again. At least there are 2 dvd volume sets out now!!!

TheComet responds:

This is probably the most constructive review I've had in a few months!
The point of the that halo parody series is to put the game in a nutshell :P
I take voiceover outtakes and humorous audio often and think of om way to put the cast of halo into it.

As for the Invader Zim Series, it's coming alot slowly but surely. I have Dib completely drawn and am currently drawing Zim. Screw rights and "kiddiness", I'm going to make it how it was meant to be. A little violent, disturbing a bit, same style as the original :)

7/10: good job

Let me start off that I'm not a big fan of sprite movies. Sprites just seem out of place when you aren't playing as one of them and flash animation is soOOoo much suited for looks, but the second this movie started, I was interested. It didn't use the overly done nintendo or sega characters (main ones), but metal slug!!! I think metal slug isn't an eye sore as much as the other sprites are and much more appealing in style.
The graphics were awesome especially using detailed backgrounds and the use of sprites. I just wish that you didn't use that one sprite background in space.
The violence was top notch and gory, nuff said.
Sound seemed sparse however and the little voice work I heard sounded ridiculous.
The story seemed interesting, but nothing much happened to keep my interest for the sequels. It was a little incoherent and didn't have too much detail or information except for the fact that it was an intournament of metal slug characters doing...something?

Use more detialed backgrounds with sprite characters, a very clever and unique idea you came up with. Actually seperates itself from the other countless and unoriginal sprite movies. If I have to see sonic and mario one more time, who knows what I'll do!!!
mj

ampedMIKAEL responds:

Hahahah, thanks man. Yea those mario and sonic sprite movies kind of get on my nerves. Especially the ones that are all pixelated and use outstretched backgrounds.

7/10: good

This was a creative and original idea that newgrounds truely needs.
The sound choice was good at the beginning and suited the animation perfectly.
The graphics were overall good, but did have it's mommets of roughness and choppyness. The characters looked original, but did resemble combat madness, which was dissapointing, but at least each had thier own personnel style, like the guard and inmate. Though shouldn't the spectaters look different then the inmate because I thought that the idea of him bieng black and outlined in red was to show his evil personification.
4/5
Just try to make the characters a bit more original in the body department, otherwise more people are going to rip on it for not being original.
kudos,
mj

AlmightyHans responds:

i am completely aware that the design wasnt that original, thats only because i saw that LF, krinkels, poninjas etc... they all had limbless characters, along with other haracters of theirs, im only trying to make as many kinds of movies as i can, understand? im trying different styles, to have some variety and experience...

8/10: booyah!

Nicely well done indeed.
Though it was short it was humorous.
Obviously deserves a spot in the metal gear collection on this site.
The graphics and style was impress and was professional quality.
Voicework was suiting and wasn't too shabby.
Though it wasn't that big of a spoof of mgs, except it had solid snake in it.
Nice job of keeping the ending unexpected, but it seemed typical.
The sad thing is I'm reall addicted to those arcade shooters (especially crisis zone) and would easily waste 30 bucks a day on it if I could. Thank god there is school and homework to save my money from being wasted.

NALO responds:

thanks for the detailed response i hope it does go on the metal gear solid collection section but i can't decide that

6/10: not too shabby

The music was oddly addicitve and suiting for the cartoon. Nothing I would personnelly listen to, but perfect for this animation.
The graphics were good, but had it's momets of awkardness. It got better towards the end, but went back to bad, then to good again, and lastly back to bad. So I gave it a okay score on visuals because overall goodness. Also I found the main character to be simplistic in looks and an eye sore.
The style was nice, especially with the concept of the devil & love at times, but overall wasn't that impressive or unique.
Violence seemed to be below average, but wasn't suppose to be one of the main factors of the cartoon.
overall:
3/5
